Cameron Lindsay – Still living the dream

Former WYNRS star and NZ Under 17 international Cameron Lindsay is working hard every day at Blackburn Rovers with the dream to one day play alongside the All Whites captain and hero Ryan Nelsen. Before this dream can become a reality, Cameron is trying to impress at training and in Under 18 competition. The WYNRS team has received a report on his most recent progress, following games for the Blackburn Under 18 team. Sounds like a dream to be part of and an inspiration for all our young WYNRS footballers to aspire to!!

v Everton away 1-0 loss   (league)
Everton fielded 6 players who had first team experience. Cameron played a full game at right back. Up against Luke Garbutt who cost Everton £600,000 from Leeds. Cameron acquitted himself well forcing Garbutt to drop deep to get more involved as the game progressed.

v Huddersfield 10-1 win (midweek friendly)
An easy win with Cameron playing three quarters of the game at right back.

v Manchester United away 6-1 loss  (league)
What a thumping, Man Utd where hurting from the loss in the FA youth cup. However the score did’nt really reflect the game as the statistics should Blackburn dominated territory with possession almost equal. Taking chances and finishing was a different story.
Cameron was on the bench and not used. The loss dropped them to second in the league

v Stoke home 1-1 draw (league)
Blackburn put out a young team against a strong Stoke outfit and came away with a deserved draw. Cameron started at centre mid and played for the full 90mins. Kept it simple and covered a lot of ground. Got a pass mark from the coach.

v Everton home 2-1 win aet  (FA Youth Cup quater final)
Hard fought game, could have gone either way. First time the Everton team had conceded in over 1000 mins of football.
Unfortunately Cam did’nt make the squad. Brought in a couple of First Team squad members who where eligible to play.

Semi final is home and away against Chelsea.

Cameron is off to play Manchester City this weekend. He is hoping to get some game time as a number of 2nd year players are going with the reserves to play in a tournament in Dubai. So its all action for Cameron and exciting times for the youngster. All the best for the rest of the season Cameron!!
