DOUBLE WYNRS CELEBRATION AT EAST COAST BAYS

Bay City Park the home of East Coast Bays Football Club was the scene of two more triumphs for the WYNRS Academy on Saturday. The first success went to the WYNRS Onehunga Sports 13th Metro side who wrapped up their championship with an impressive two nil win over second placed East Coast Bays.

Back row (left to right) – Tony Porter (coach), Harrison Byrne, Ermal Fusha,
Nick Sugden, Shalvin Sharma, Liam Jordan, Timothy Allen, Ben Grave, Nathan Reive, Keryn Jordan (coach)
Front row (left to right) – John Gribble, Matthew Blackmore, Chris Riley, Jake Porter, Stuart Holthusen, Jordan Hunter

Two goals to Ermal Fusha in the first half were enough to see the players home in an exciting encounter. East Coast Bays needed to win the game to over take the WYNRS team and with the third placed Three Kings also having a chance it made for a very tense atmosphere at pitch side. We are very proud of the mature performance from the players to get the job done.

The second success of the day went to head academy coach Leigh Kenyon who captained the East Coast Bays men’s premier first team to their league title in front of a good crowd at Bay City Park. Facing the same sort of situation as the 13th Metro side Leigh squared off against the second placed Waitakere City, knowing that a draw was enough to secure the team’s second straight premiership league title. Trailing one nil at half time the East Coast Bays side came roaring back with three goals in the second half to win the game 3 – 1 with both teams finishing the game with 10 men after a sending off a piece. Leigh would like to thank the large number of WYNRS players and parents that attended the game for their awesome support.

Saturday was yet another great day for those involved in the WYNRS ‘family’!!
