ACADEMY HEAD COACH MIYA IN AUSTRALIA
24/06/2009
Miya has just spent the week in Queensland Australia
working closely with the Japanese Under 20 national
side. Miya’s good friend Zabu is the assistant
coach of the side and extended the invite for Miya to
join the squad and gain experience. The Japanese side
are preparing for the University World Championships
in Serbia where they are grouped with, France, Brazil
and Thailand and have played three warm up games in
Australia. Comfortable 5 – 0 and 7 – 0
wins over Queensland State League opposition was
followed by a 2 – 1 victory over A League side
Queensland Roar. On his arrival back to NZ Miya had
the following to say on his experience –
“it was a great experience for me as a coach. I
have learnt modern coaching methods and picked up
lots of drills. I enjoyed working with top quality
players too”.
The photo’s show Miya with Queensland Roar captain and former Socceroo Craig Moore as well as former Wynrs player Mitch Cooper who has been invited to join the Queensland Institute of sport. Well done Miya. Shame the Japanese full national side could not do the same against Australia in the final World Cup Qualifier!!
